LHCDC was incorporated in 1998 to help individuals and families overcome the obstacles of homeownership. We offer one-on-one counseling as well as group counseling through our Homer Ownership Program (HOP). The HOP consists of 28 hours of economic literacy developed through a partnership with the Davidson County Community College. Classes range from Pre-homeownership, Money Management, Budgeting and Home Maintenance. Graduates of the program are eligible to participate in the IDA Savings Program Matching Funds and the New Home Loan Pool Soft (Silent) Second Loan funds through NC Housing Finance Agency. Over the past years, LHCDC has made a positive impact on the community by adapting to the changing economic obstacles and partnering with governmental agencies, non-profits organizations, grant sources, schools, churches, and youth groups.
LHCDC has also made a positive impact on affordable housing by partnering with governmental agencies, non-profits organizations, grant sources, schools, churches, youth groups, and individuals. The organization has added over 2 million dollars to the tax base in Lexington. Over the years LHCDC has developed 14 affordable homes.
The Lexington Homeownership Center (LHC) was created as a strategic action from the Lexington Homeownership Strategic Plan whose primary goal is to increase homeownership in the City of Lexington. The Center is a collaborative initiative of all the Lexington agencies whose purposes are related to homeownership.
LHC is a program under the oversight of Lexington Housing Community Development Corporation.
